Leadership in a school does not begin and end with the students. The Skipper Foundation’s Teacher Development workshops are built for the educators and administrators who set the culture, model the values, and either sustain or undermine the leadership environment every single day. These workshops give teachers and school leaders the practical tools and shared vision to cultivate a leadership culture that takes root and lasts long after any single training event.

Who this is for

Teachers who want to lead their classrooms with greater intentionality — shaping not just academic outcomes but the character and leadership capacity of their students.
Middle and senior leaders within a school who influence culture through the departments and teams they oversee. These staff members benefit most from the workshop’s focus on leading other adults.
Administrators responsible for the overall direction and culture of a school. The workshops equip principals with language and frameworks to embed servant leadership across every level of the institution.
Governing board members and non-teaching administrators who shape school policy and institutional identity are also welcome participants.

What the workshops cover

Cultivating leadership culture

Participants explore how culture is built — through consistent behaviour, clear expectations, and the values that leaders model publicly and privately.

Leading with character

The workshops draw on the Foundation’s servant leadership philosophy, helping educators reconnect their professional role with personal integrity and purpose.

Supporting student leaders

Practical strategies for identifying, nurturing, and sustaining student leadership within the school — so that student council roles are more than titles.

Creating lasting change

Participants leave with concrete steps they can take in their own classrooms and departments to make the leadership culture durable, not dependent on any one person.
Schools that book the Teacher Development workshop alongside the Student Leadership Training program create alignment between what students are learning and what their teachers are reinforcing. This combination produces the most sustained cultural change.

Workshop format

1

Half-day or full-day session

Workshops are available in half-day and full-day formats. The full-day format allows for deeper work and more time for group discussion and practical application.
2

Delivered at your school

The Foundation brings the workshop to you. Sessions are held in your staffroom, hall, or any suitable school venue, minimising disruption to the school calendar.
3

Facilitated by Skipper Nyongesa

Skipper draws on his own extensive teaching career to speak to educators as a fellow practitioner — not an outside consultant. That peer credibility shapes how the content lands.
4

Action planning and follow-up

The session ends with each participant or team identifying specific actions they will take in their school. The Foundation is available for follow-up support as those actions are implemented.
Teacher Development workshops can be booked as a standalone programme or combined with a Student Leadership Training day. Contact the Foundation to discuss what combination best fits your school’s current needs and calendar.
